Adopted dog hit by a car

I adopted Jordan from a rescue organization (HART) in northern Virginia last fall. They had taken her from a separate organization in South Carolina. I took her in so that my other rescue dog, Wrigley, would have a playmate and friend.

It turns out that Jordan is quite the escape artist, always looking for a chance to roam, free of restraints. Two nights ago, she escaped under my garage door as it was closing while I entered the house. After trying to catch her for about 20 minutes, she ultimately strolled across an active side street. I witnessed as she was struck by a car, after which the driver drove off without ever stopping. Jordan immediately took off running, and I quickly lost track of her.

For the past 2 days,  my friends, HART, random volunteers, and I did everything we could to locate her. It's hot, she's scared, dehydrated, fearful, and quite possibly severely injured. Thankfully a good samaritan about 1/2 mile away spotted Jordan, called the number on a flyer he had seen, and I was able to retrieve her. I took her to the vet, Battlefield Animal Clinic, where she currently remains as I type this.  She had a fever, suffered from dehydration and infection, and had multiple sever lacerations on her hind legs. Her left paw was completely decimated beyond repair, requiring her left hind leg to be amputated.  While I'm expecting to share many more happy years with my 3-legged pup, her medical bills are considerable, with more to come as she recovers. 

Any assistance that you can provide is greatly appreciated. I have already been amazed by the number of caring people that have reached out or helped the last couple of days, including complete strangers. I do not live a lavish lifestyle, but want to ensure that my two dogs are always taken care of. I have never used gofundme before, so anything you are willing to contribute is tremendously helpful.
