Adopt a Central Park Bench in Memory of Eileen
Many of our memories of Eileen are in Central Park - often accompanied by crazy dogs and their ensuing shenanigans. It was a spiritual sanctuary for her. "Talking to the trees" was her connection to a higher power. It's a place she found serenity and shared wisdom with many. She felt safe and "a part of" in the park.
Once on a walk, she pointed out a bench that had been dedicated to someone that had passed on. She mused how lovely it would be for her to be remembered that way - and wouldn't it though? Kathy said it best, "I can see myself talking to a bench and getting her answer". So very fitting, a place in the park to visit Eileen.
Adopting a bench comes at a cost - $10,000 to be exact. If we don't get to that number trees and such are also available. She certainly would not have wanted anyone to feel pressured, but any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind, if for any reason we don't get to the minimum ($5,000), your money will be returned. You can learn more at centralparknyc.org/giving/adopt-a-bench.
