Adopt a bench for Camellia
Donation protected
On April 8th, 2020, my family and I lost my twin sister Camellia.
She was severely disabled, and had recently moved away to a group home. But during her months away from home, I sensed that she was getting ready to let go of this life. I suppose that's a twin thing.
Those who knew her knew that despite her disabilities, she got so much out of life. She traveled all around the world with us. We made friends wherever we went, finding a community of those who had loved ones with severe disabilities. She loved listening to music, or honestly just any sounds we were making, whether it was pots and pans in the kitchen, me struggling at the piano, or any of us laughing.
She loved being outdoors. One of the parts of the world she experienced alongside us was the Shore Road path, across the street from our apartment. Along the path, we could sit on the benches with her, experiencing the warmth of the sunshine with her and listening to the sound of the world around us.
In memorial of Camellia, my family would like to dedicate one of the benches along the path to her. It will commemorate the beauty that she brought to our lives, and the beauty of the world that she was able to experience.
