Hi, Julie and Jim here, and we have a tale of two lovable young people starting the rest of their lives together.

Over the last year or so, many of you may know that our Son, Reece, has been settling in eastern Romania to be with Adina, his now-wife. The story follows the tradition in Romania that getting married generally takes place over a couple of days. There is the initial civic ceremony where the couple are formally hitched, followed by the church ceremony and then the party. The civic ceremony, where we welcomed our new daughter-in-law to the family, took place earlier in the year — several months earlier, due to visa shenanigans. This allowed them to gradually plan for the wedding day, confirmed as Saturday, the 8th of November.

The wedding is taking place in the lovely small town of Răducăneni, where they reside with Adina's Mum and Dad and wee dog Nero. Due to the distance and the travel required, a full blooded Scottish showing will consist of the two of us, probably overly enthusiastic parents of the groom.

There were bigger plans in consideration for a Scottish event, but schedules and circumstances conspired to make a follow-up celebratory party for the newlyweds in Aberdeen unlikely. Albeit on relatively short notice, we decided we would like to show them the love of family and friends as best we can. Since we are unable to share in our celebration with you personally, we thought we could maybe offer some love from kin and friends for them as they make the next big step in their lives together in a very beautiful part of the world.

There would never have been a grand list of expensive gifts at a Scottish wedding, as that isn't our way or their way. Therefore, we merely suggest and welcome small, modest gestures to help them set up their first home together—too cute disclaimer.

We will happily receive cards and kind words to pass along, as they will be cherished and considered as being equally thoughtful and generous. Please get in touch with either of us directly if you would like to pass on your wishes.

Yes, the wedding is very soon, and this page will remain open up the weekend of the wedding.
