Hayden Chipley Is from Wellington, Florida He is six years old and was diagnosed with a rare disease called Eosinophilic Esophagitis { EoE} when he was just a-year-old. Eosinophils are a specific type of white blood cell that is made in a person’s bone marrow and move into the blood stream to fight off harmful cells. They tend to migrate toward inflamed areas of tissue and typically they are an indicator that the body has an allergy to the cell that is being attacked. In patients with EOE, the body misreads food as that harmful substance and therefore begins to reject the proteins, causing inflammation. The esophagus is ringed and Iinflames making the process of swallowing food a challenge.
Hayden’s case is severe. He’s allergic to all food and drinks except rice, gummies, Dum-Dum lollipops, Simply Tostitos. Piwerade, and a very expensive formula called Neocate. At least once a year he and his family have to travel from Florida to Colorado to Denver Children’s Hospital for exams, test, and treatments. Due to changes with health insurance coverages, the families insurance no longer covers the cost of the formula, specialist in Denver, and some of the routine medical costs that are inherent with a rare disease.
Hayden needs heroes who will help him receive the treatments he needs to make his difficult life the best it can be. Thank you in advance for your support.
