I always thought it was weak to ask for help but I later realized that it is prideful not to. Matthew 17:20 states, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” As impossible as this endeavor seems to raise money for the surgery I had, I am fully trusting that God will make a way when there seems to be no way.
For 10 years and most of my 20’s, I have struggled with a debilitating illness. I was dismissed by countless doctors telling me I was "too young" to be sick and must be "stress". I met a world-renown surgeon in NYC named Dr. Kanayama that performed surgery on me that only few in the world can do.
Basically, I had severe Adenomyosis and deep, infiltrating Endometriosis. Adenomyosis is when excessive tissue around the uterine wall grows exponentially, causing the uterus to enlarge and become damaged over time. When this happens, pelvic organs are pushed and twisted, causing severe pain and a sensation of carrying a bowling ball in your stomach. Adenomyosis has a prevalence of 1.03% so 29/10,000 women have this condition. I also had deep, infiltrating endometriosis involving my bowels, bladder, abdomen and rectum. Most of my pelvic organs were twisted from the adeno/endo and caused immense pain, chronic fatigue, and nausea for 10 years. Unfortunately, women's health is not taken seriously and Adenomyosis is not well known as a whole. Most gyn's suggest a hysterectomy to cure Adenomyosis, but I did not want this in my early 20's if I ever wanted kids one day. For this reason, I had surgery with Dr. Kanayma.
Patients come from all over the world to see Dr. Kanayama in NYC as he is renown for his work. As most endometriosis is invisible to the human eye during surgery, it can hide in deep tissue pockets below the surface, in a downward spiral like a maze formation. Dr. Kanayama was able to untwist my pelvic organs and remove the deep roots of endometriosis.
Unfortunately, because of the intricate and specialized work this surgeon does, he is out of network with insurance and surgery fees are required upfront prior to surgery. Surgery and hospital bills cost $22K in total. I'm trusting God will provide the means to facilitate this goal!
My goal is to not raise money alone but to spread awareness to these conditions in which many women are suffering in silence. Thank you VERY much for your generosity and being a part of my healing journey.
