On July 13th, Adem collapsed while at work with cardiac arrest.
He was clinically dead for at least 10 minutes before CPR regained a heartbeat.
Adem spent the next few months on a ventilator in a coma.
After coming out of the coma, he began the long process of recovery. He was able to get his ventilator off, and trach removed, but remains on a feeding tube.
The widespread brain injury became apparent. He is having to learn to slowly eat again and start to try to learn to talk. His body remains paralyzed to date, and he can only move his head at small degrees.
Adem remains in long-term nursing care.
Unfortunately, some of the pressure wounds common in long-term care have become too much, and he must have his leg amputated as well as part of his thumb. Other bed sores are going to be examined by surgeons for evaluation.
While the medical costs are covered by insurance, the travel back and forth has become very expensive as gas has increased, and the family is requesting help to pay the travel expenses. Anything given will go directly to cover the cost of fuel and is greatly appreciated.
