Adelynn's Angel's Relapse Journey

Donation protected
Adelynn was first diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March of 2017 at the age of 5, she then endured a rigerous regement for just about 3 years of chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, and medication and was deemed cancer free in June of 2019.
Sadly, we are all in shock with a relapse diagnosed in late March of this year. No parent should ever hear the words “your child has cancer once... let alone twice! During the course of this spring Adelynn has spent over 5 and a half weeks at the Barbara Bush Children's hospital in Portland, Maine. She has received mutiple lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, Chemotherapy, medication, C.T scans, x-rays, and even more over these last few weeks. Unfortunately during this time Adelynn was diagnosed with other complications other than the Leukemia. She was diagnosed with a blood infection that they treated with heavy anibiotics, which ended up with the removal of her Medi-port that was put in 3 weeks prior. With a blood infection through her whole little body, she was a very sick little girl. With a continued regiment of antibiotics, this unfortunately pushed back her treatment plan for the Leukemia.
Adelynn's team of Oncologist are teaming up with a group in Boston that focuses on pediatric Leukemia and are preparing treatment plan options for Adelynn. There are two different routes, one would consist of a standardize chemotherapy regiment for relapse, the second treatment plan would consist of a bone marrow transplant with radiation & chemotherapy. As of right now the team is confident that treating Adelynn with chemotherapy is the right choice for now. As there are 3 elements to this decision, timing of relapse, a favorable chromosome with in the cells, and Adelynn's MRD results. As treating with a bone marrow transplant has so many risks during treatment and long term. Treating with chemotherapy looks as if it would be the better choice for now, which could change at any given time during treatment. They say this process will not be easy for Adelynn and her family. As her treatment consists of new chemotherapy drugs, that her cells have not seen before. Most of Adelynns treatment will have to be traveling to Maine Children's Cancer Program Clinic in Scarborough, Maine and she will endure lengthy stays at the Barbara Bush Childrens Hospital, in Portland, Maine over the course of these next 3 years.

Adelynn is a sweet, funny, and kind little girl with a huge heart for her family. She lives with her single mother Bridget ( a self employed hair stylist) in Brunswick, Maine. Bridget is one of the most sincere and loving people I have ever met. She is working tirelessly to provide and keep their home and way of life, as "normal" as possible. In the midst of this devastation she still wants to serve her clients but due to Covid-19 she is fearful that the few days that she is able to give will risk exposure to herself and Adelynn. Adelynn is extremely compramised at this point, and will continue to be throughout her journey.
We need to keep Adelynn and Bridget safe at home and give them hope that they will be provided for and that they are not alone.

Adelynn's team of oncologists perceive that this journey will be a similar 3 year time frame with additional appointments there after. It is my prayer that God will bless this family with abundance so that Bridget can remain home and focus on giving sweet Adelynn the care that she needs. Bridget and Adelynn will be facing many trips to Portland and possibly Boston medical centers and extended stays. One thing is for sure this will be another long journey and it will be emotionally and financially straining.

We thank you in advance and appreciate your prayers, words of encouragement and support during this extremely difficult time in their lives. We know our prayers are heard. God is great.
