Adelita’s medical expenses for cancer treatment

En julio 2023 recibimos una de las peores noticias que se le puede dar a una familia. Después de varias semanas con dolor de rodilla y mucho insistir al doctor por rayos-x y análisis de sangre, “Adelita tiene un tumor y es necesario hacer más estudios para sabes si es maligno.” Esas fueron las palabras que escucharon Julián y Alma ese día. El día que les cambiara la vida para siempre.

Después de un MRI se confirmó que Adelita tenía un tipo raro de cancer en su hueso y tendría que someterse a quimioterapia y una cirugía. Y sin tener tiempo para procesar la noticia, Alma y Julián tuvieron que llevar a primera hora el siguiente día a Adelita al centro de cancer en el hospital de niños en San Francisco.

Adelita tiene 15 es la mayor de una familia de 4. Es una niña con un ángel especial, es dulce, tierna y amorosa .Siempre está ayudándole a su mamá con sus 3 hermanos, tanto a calentarles la leche como a llamarles la atención. Su corazón es tan noble y puro que siempre está el pendiente y se preocupa por los demás aun sin conocerlos. Solo con mirarla y mirar su linda sonrisa nos alegra el día.

Apesar de tener seguro médico los gastos son muchos. Gastos que la aseguranza no cubre al 100%, así como gastos para medicamentos, transporte, estacionamiento, comida etc. Julian siendo el único proveedor económico ha perdido muchos días de trabajo para estar al pendiente de los tratamientos de Adelita. Estos tratamientos continuarán por los próximos 9 meses a 1 año,y serán cada 2 semanas.

On July 2023 we received one of the worst news that can be given to a family. After many weeks of knee pain insisting to the doctor for an x-ray and blood test “Adelita has a tumor and it is necessary to do more studies to know if it is malignant.” Those were the words that Julián and Alma heard that day. After that day, their life’s changed forever.

After having an MRI it was confirmed that Adelita had a very rare type of bone cancer and would have to undergo chemotherapy and surgery. Without even having time to process the news, Julian and Alma had to take Adelita first thing in the morning the following day to the cancer unit at children’s hospital in San Francisco.

Adelita is 15 and the oldest of a family of 4. She is very special, she is sweet, caring and loving. She is always helping her mother with her 3 younger siblings by warming their milk to calling their attention when they are not behaving . Her heart is so noble and pure that she is always attentive and cares about others even without knowing them. Just looking at her and seeing her beautiful smile makes our day.

Despite having health insurance, there are many expenses that the insurance does not cover 100%, as well as co-payments, deductibles, medications and expenses for transportation, parking, food, etc. Julian, being the only financial provider, has lost many days of work to be with Adelita. These treatments will continue for the next 9 months to 1 year, every 2 weeks.
