Adeline’s Fight

Adeline, 3 years old, has neurofibromatosis type 1 and has been diagnosed with brain cancer. She sees a neurologist and a eye specialist yearly. She had a virtual appointment on 4/23 (virtual because of the coronavirus) which resulted in her needing to patch her right eye to make her left eye stronger. We quickly realized that day that she could not see with her left eye when the right eye was covered. We called the Dr office and informed them of this and they wanted her in the office immediately. During her exam it was determined that she had a mass behind her left eye. We were sent to Dell Children’s Hospital and Adeline had a MRI of her brain which showed two large optic nerve gliomas and a CNS glial tumor. All are malignant. Surgery is not a option, her treatment plan is chemo for a year. She received a port on 4/26 to infuse her chemo drugs. Adelines mom just finished her FMLA due to having a baby and is now taking a unpaid leave of absence to stay home to care for Adeline and the newborn baby. Money raised will go directly to medical expenses, gas to and from the hospital for her chemo treatments and so mom can stay home more to help her go through this.
