Adele's Prayer Warriors

Adele's lung cancer journey began June 12, 2020, when she swallowed a piece of pizza the wrong way during a deep asthmatic inhale. This may have saved her life! It led to a visit to the doctor on June 17, where a chest X-ray revealed "unexpected" results. Adele had a CT scan on June 20, which led to seeing a pulmonologist on June 30 for a bronchoscopy which indicated a mass in the superior segment of the left lower lobe, satellite nodular components, and opacities of different character in the right upper lobe. Biopsies were performed and Stage 3 non-small cell lung cancer confirmed. This was further confirmed with a PET scan on July 6. Adele had her first visit with an oncologist on July 7. On July 15 she will have a brain MRI (this cancer likes going to the brain) and a sonogram to check for clots. Treatment with high doses of chemo will begin soon, followed by six weeks of daily radiation. Adele, a licensed (NC and SC) massage therapist with her own business, as well as a Master Gardener, has many interests to include integrative medicine. She had hoped to mix integrative with Western cancer treatments but it is cost prohibitive. She will be unable to work for an undetermined amount of time and her husband, Johnny, retired in 2019.

I also know that this cancer is on purpose...there's a reason...God's will is always perfect...no matter how we tend to interpret it or allow our fears to doubt it. I don't 100% understand the message yet, but I do, without a doubt, know there is one. One of the lessons is for me to learn how to receive help from others...I'm a caregiver...it's why I'm a healer - a massage therapist. I think this process will make me that much better of a healer."
