Support people being held in ICE detention

At the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in California's Mojave High Desert, over 2,000 people are held far from their families and communities. Many are detained in raids and have no criminal record at all. Those who do have a prior record have already closed their cases within the legal system: they have done what the law asked of them. Inside detention, even small necessities cost money, and many detainees have no way to pay for them.

We're raising funds to put money directly into detainees' commissary accounts. These funds go to detainees we are visiting with in person, as well as others they recommend to us. That money makes a real difference every day, helping people afford:

  • Phone and video calls to stay connected with family, loved ones, and attorneys
  • Hygiene items like soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and shampoo
  • Bottled water, snacks and food to supplement contaminated water and inedible food provided
  • Basic supplies like stamps, paper, and other small essentials

For someone in detention, a funded commissary account means staying in touch with the people they love and holding onto a bit of dignity during an incredibly difficult time.

An update on our first fundraiser

Our initial commissary fund raised $26,815 on Givebutter before the account was closed, as we are not a registered non-profit organization. As of September 22, 2026, roughly 92% of those funds have been distributed, reaching 235 individuals to date.

Operating as a group of private citizens has real advantages. We're able to stay agile and meet needs quickly, responding directly to the people we visit in person and the individuals they recommend to us. Because we carry no overhead, contributions go straight into detainees' commissary accounts.

The need has not slowed. New people are being detained every day, and as word of our work spreads, detainees held at other facilities such as California City are reaching out for support as well. We've launched this GoFundMe campaign to continue this work and keep meeting the growing demand.

Please give what you can, and share this campaign with others who want to show detainees that they are not forgotten.

Thank you for supporting these individuals.
