Adelaide Hills Bushfire - Support the Ward Family

On Friday the 20th December (just 5 days out from Christmas), horrific bushfires in the Adelaide Hills destroyed everything in their path across 10000 hectares. The devastation has been truly heartbreaking.

Sadly, our friends Janelle (Nell) and James Ward and their 3 young children from Lobethal, SA lost their beautiful family home in the fires.

We are relieved to know that their family is together and safe and are being supported by family and friends.

As their friends, we too feel their heartbreak and sadness and we want to reach out to show support, love and kindness at this time of devastation.

It will be a long journey ahead for them to process what has happened and rebuild again and we can assist by lending a helping heart and hand.

Many of us have known and worked with Nell for 20 years in the scrapbooking industry.  Nell has touched many lives with her teaching and her love of recording special family memories in treasured photo albums. Her home proudly displayed many years of photos and stories in beautiful albums. We are grateful to hear that Nell was able to rescue a few of these treasured albums when they were told to leave their home on the morning of the 20th of December.

Nell is a crafting queen with her love of paper craft, wool, fabrics and more.  As her crafting friends, we feel devastated that she has lost her crafting supplies that bring her so much joy. We would love to bring some of that joy back to her by donating money so she can purchase new supplies.

As Nell is a well respected and loved members of our Close To My Heart community, let’s reach into our hearts and wallets to show her and her family the love and support of friends and community members.

All funds donated will be gifted to the Ward family to spend in whatever way is needed to help towards starting a new beginning.
