Addie Mae’s Medical Journey
Donation protected
In the summer of 2023 we began to notice unexplainable symptoms in Addie Mae’s movements. As new symptoms emerged she started losing skills she once had, leaving us concerned. Like a lot of stories we hear, we sought for help from Dr’s and encountered doubt, dismissal, and minimization. When we had hit that point of what felt like despair—not knowing what to do or where to go next—we found dedicated doctors both in and out-of-state who wanted to help Addie Mae.
This journey has been incredibly hard, something we never imagined facing with any of our children. We’ve made countless phone calls, doctor’s appointments, hospital visits, and medical tests, and although we still find ourselves without all the answers, we find ourselves with hope.
She has an amazing team of people doing all that they can to help her. Her favorite team—who she sees weekly—is for her speech, occupational, and physical therapy. She is also a part of the Undiagnosed Disease Network, and we are now preparing for her appointment at the Mayo Clinic next month.
Last, but not least, she has her brother and sister who love her and want to help her in any way they can, and the rest of her family fighting for her every step of the way. Despite the numerous challenges she faces, she continues to thrive and shows an unwavering determination. If she sets her mind to something, there’s no stopping her—we’ve tried!
A wildflower is often used to describe a “person who travels to many different places and can flourish anywhere.” Addie Mae is our Wildflower and “Consider The Wildflower” captures her unique strength and ability to flourish despite whatever new challenges her body brings or where they may take us.
If you are unable to donate that’s okay and we hope you don’t feel pressured or obligated! These things can feel uncomfortable, at least from our side. The one thing we will ask for are prayers and thoughts for our Addie Mae. We have seen miracles that come from that and it’s comforting to know she is being thought of and supported. Thank you!
