Addi's Benefit Concert
Addi was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in her right femur last fall. To say that it turned her entire world upside down would be an understatement. Addi underwent 49 rounds of chemotherapy, battling for her life every single day.
She finished her treatment in May, but it was hardly the finish line. Addi had to have her leg amputated in order to save her life. The surgery she went through is called a rotationplasty, which means that her heel functions as her knee. Every day brings new waves of challenges for Addi as she tries to navigate her new life.
The future is still uncertain. Addi's life could be in jeopardy at any given moment. We are still fighting to get back to normal, to pay the mountain of bills, to climb the mountain of recovery. Every day is a gift in our life with Addi, and we want to be able to enjoy every moment with her without the unavoidable stressors that come from spending an entire year in the hospital, and then trying to come back to thereal world.
This is Addi, and this is her life.
