Roller Derby has changed my life. It the has given me strength. It has given me purpose and direction. I want to bring the sport I love to a new group of athletes that have not been able to play it before. 

I am creating Adaptive Roller Derby using the sleds used for Sled/Sledge Hockey and switching out the blades for wheels. 

I have partnered with Seattle Adaptive Sports. They have many adaptive sports offered in the Seattle Area. They have a few sleds to loan us but not enough for a team. I played last season on the sled hockey team as a way to learn how the sleds perform and to meet athletes and get connected. 

I will be flying to Texas to learn from Mike Box from Box Chairs to make the best wheel mechanism for the sleds. Box Chairs makes custom wheel chairs for WCMX which is chairs that can go in skate parks and do jumps. His knowlege of wheels, castors and surfaces will be super helpful. I am going to make the wheel mechanisms myself. I will need to be able to buy the materials to make them (wheels, plates, plexiglass, poles for pushers, rubber, etc) and some equiptment like a drill press and a band saw. The money from this gofundme will go for that. 

In addition the money will go toward buying custom sleds for athletes who do not have thier own sled or do not fit in one of the ones on loan to us. It will go toward uniforms, safety gear (helmets, wrist guards, etc), rink rental time for practice, rink rental time for a public bout, additional insurance needed for practice and bouts, possibly transportation for athletes to practice if needed, helmet covers, and pushers. I will also be making the pushers. 

Any additional monies will be used to buy sleds and other equiptment for the next season (hoping to have more than one) and for taking Adaptive Roller Derby to other cities.
