Adaptive Car with accessible controls
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Kenneth Goy. In 2007 I suffered a severe spinal cord injury. I am using Go Fund Me as a platform to raise money for a vehicle that can be adapted into a Handicapped accessible Vehicle for me to drive. Typically people in my situation would use a van or some form of SUV to convert into a handicapped accessible vehicle. That will not be the case in my situation. I plan on purchasing a "normal" car and having it adapted so I can transfer in and out from a manual wheelchair. I have had my license to do so since 2012 but was never interested in driving because my girlfriend at the time drove everywhere we needed to be. She has moved on and after a few years now the burden of not having a car is really affecting my life. I am now missing DR. appointments, friends weddings, social events, etc. It is starting to take a catastrophic toll on my mental well being. In addition to these things I was recently in a bad accident caused by a transportation company that was taking me to my doctor, that is the second time this has happened to me. I am tired of relying on other people to take me places only to be late or completely miss my appointments.
After speaking with the people closest to me that have supported me in the past raising money for work out equipment, a computer, and a couple other items, we have come to the conclusion that a Go Fund Me platform is the best solution in order to raise enough money for a big ticket item such as a car.
Thank you in advance and thank you to anybody who has helped me!
