Hi, my name is Melissa, Adam's mom, I am raising funds to help with hotel, food and transportation while Adam receives treatment at Stanford Medical in California.
Adam was seen for a sore throat on October 29th, 2022. After weeks of pain, nose bleeds, and loss of appetite he was seen by a specialist for his tonsils and set up for surgery on December 1st, 2022.
Doctors could not perform the surgery that day because his blood work showed extremely low numbers, too low to safely operate.
Three weeks later on December 27th, he was admitted to our local hospital. He had lost a total of sixty-two pounds while waiting for this appointment. After numerous blood tests, a Bone Marrow Biopsy and a Lymph Node Biopsy we still have no definitive answer but a possible cause, ALPS.
Autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome (ALPS) is a rare genetic disorder of the immune system it is the dysregulation of the immune system due to an inability to regulate lymphocyte homeostasis through the process of lymphocyte apoptosis.
Adam has to be transferred to Stanford Health in Palo Alto for the tests and treatment to be done. There is no Cure for ALPS, our goal is to get him to a point he can come home and then go back and forth to Stanford for treatment.
I will be going with him but we have no idea how long we will be there. The funds I am asking for are to help with hotel, food and transportation while I am there.
Most of you know Adam is our youngest and he is the life of the party. He is a jokester and always brings light and laughter to our lives.
We are also asking for prayers, as many as we can get. Adam's favorite verse is Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness
