In Memory of Adam Miles

Donation protected
This is Colin O’Keefe, I’m writing to you all on behalf of Calysta, and the Miles Family. Adam was my best friend, I’d known him my whole life, we’d been through everything together, and I owe him this; so much more than this. Some of you knew him like I did, maybe better. I am just one voice, I only knew the Adam I knew. There are no words that could ever describe what we’ve lost. These words will fall short, and I encourage you all to help me fill in the gaps. Put it all down here, show us how much he was loved. Remember him, because many of us will never forget him.
As many of you now know, last weekend we lost one of our own, our friend, our brother. Adam Miles passed away Saturday afternoon. That day he and his classmates went swimming at High Rock Lake, in Davidson county North Carolina. Adam never made it back to shore. After a long search and rescue effort by local authorities Adam’s body was recovered, Sunday morning. We will never know why, and why will never be good enough, but Saturday afternoon Adam Miles drowned.
Today would have been his 25th birthday, we were going to celebrate with him, we’d been planning for weeks. Now he’s gone and we already feel his absence, his empty seat at all the celebrations to come. If you knew him, I know you all feel the same. It wasn’t a party if Adam wasn’t there. He brought so much joy into our lives with his sense of humor, his infectious positivity, his smile. Adam Miles was the best person I’ve ever known, he touched so many lives and brightened every one of them. He deserved better, he will be sorely missed.
Adam’s passing was sudden, shocking, and devastating to every person involved. Between the search and rescue efforts, his transport back home, and funeral expenses, his family has been truly blindsided. How could you prepare for something like this? To bury your own son? Adam was a self-made man, he earned everything he had and never took hand-outs. But above all else, he loved his family and I know this is what he would have wanted.
We are asking those who are willing, please donate anything you can to support his family in their time of need. We have organized this GoFundMe page in his memory where we hope to raise enough to cover these expenses, every little bit helps. If you remember how much Adam meant to you, how his smile brightened your life and lifted your spirits, please help us lay him to rest. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Colin O’Keefe
