Adam's Wrestling Camp

Hello dear family and friends,

Nina and I hope you are doing well. We are reaching out to you on behalf of our son, Adam.  Adam is 16 and will be a junior at Forest Hills Central High School here in Ada, Michigan. As many of you know, we moved two years ago, and that was not an easy time to move our children, but they have adjusted and risen to the occasion of making a new life in here Michigan, especially Adam.

Adam, as a freshman, joined the wrestling team and he was a quick learner and enjoyed a successful first year. His coaches are some of the most committed and intentional coaches we have ever met. They are committed to raising, not just winners on the mat, but winners in life. They work them hard and encourage them every step of the way.

This sophomore year, Adam was having a great season, 7-2, when, in January, he bruised his sternum, which led to a blood infection that ended his season early.  Shortly after that, he sustained a significant eye injury, followed by a broken hand (which is almost completely healed)! It has been a difficult 5 months for Adam, but that has not changed his desire to be the best wrestler he can be. Consequently, he is pursuing an incredible opportunity to attend a 28-day intensive wrestling camp, the J. Robinson Wrestling at the University of Minnesota. From what we have heard,  they arrive as "boys", but come back as "men"!

Due to Adam's injuries, he hasn't been able to work this spring to earn funds for the camp. We hope you will consider being a part of his journey this summer, as he gets back on track with his wrestling goals. He is leaving July 2! Funds are due June 30. Hear from Adam below:

Hey guys, hope you're doing well! I am raising money for a wrestling camp I would like to attend. Last season ended prematurely due to a blood  infection, so I missed most of my sophomore season. At this camp, I will get about two seasons of wrestling! This camp is 28 days long, and not only does it teach us to become better wrestlers, but it also teaches us to overcome adversity  and to persevere.  My wrestling goal is to be a state placer these next two years, and of course, to develop as a leader on and off the mat. Any support you are able to give would really bless me! Thank you so much for your consideration! Sincerely,  Adam.

Thank you all! Nina and Allen

PS We forgot to mention that Adam was awarded 2, $300 scholarships from the camp. The first one is for volunteering to be a "mat washer" everyday. He and 15 other young men will wash the mats after the day's events. The second one is for community service. Adam, by the time of camp, will have traveled to the Dominican Republic to serve in communities and orphanages with his youth group!
