Adam Whitney’s Healing Journey

Donation protected
Update:
Adam has a date for his CT scan for May 25, he is booked for a consultation with the surgeon in Toronto for June 3rd. Apparently we do a consultation first, and then the surgeon will prioritize his surgeries, but surgery will not be at least until two weeks after, which means 2 seperate trips to Toronto.
I plan on accompanying Adam to both the consultation and the surgery. We do not know what the after surgery looks like yet, we will find out June 3rd.

Thank you to all who have donated through here and privately. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Hello, my name is Yvonne and I am the proud mother to this fine young man, Adam Whitney.
Adam has always been an outgoing person, loved to be around people and loved being on the stage and his job.
In November of 2023, he started to feel unwell, to the point that he could not function and work and needed time off. His doctor decided to run some tests and discovered a spot on his thyroid and that his thyroid was not functioning aa it should.
A biopsy was performed in December of 2023 and in January he was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer.
We were assured this was a very treatable cancer, one of the better ones to get with a 99% success rate of recovery once surgery was completed.
More tests and the waiting game began. Surgery was scheduled for April. However, Adam’s persistence was able to get it moved up to March. Surgery was completed. The doctor removed not only his thyroid but a few lymph nodes at the same time. After being at home for just over 24 hours Adam had a hematoma develope in his neck and ended up in the hospital. Another surgery was going to happen. The doctor informed us that the lymph nodes he had taken out also had cancer so they wanted to go back and take a few more.
The waiting game continued for results and yet more blood tests also trying to level out his Synthroid levels.
There was a possibility that he may have to have a neck dissection done however, they wanted to try radiation treatment first.
In July, Adam went into isolation at the hospital for five days and was given radiation in hopes that that would go in and kill any remaining cells of the disease. However, tests once again were somewhat inconclusive, ultrasounds of the neck area showed that some lymph nodes were still enlarged, the wait again continued for more tests.
As Adam waited for more results, still not back at work, and mental health declining, and a general lack of energy to continue with daily tasks.
A year passes by and the doctor says it cannot be said that Adam is cancer free but he also can’t say that he has cancer. More bloodwork, more tests and finally getting in to see a oncology counsellor after a year of being on the list.
At a March 2025 appointment the doctor informs us that they want to do a biopsy again of the enlarged lymph nodes. May 14 Adam was told he does indeed still have cancer and it is in the lymph nodes in his neck, so the doctor in Toronto has now agreed that he has enough evidence that the disease is still there and will perform a neck dissection.
Adam will have to go to Toronto for this procedure. He will need to be accompanied by somebody.
He has not worked since November 2023, though he has some medical coverage, his disability will not cover everything. He still has bills, he’s been paying a mortgage and at the age of 30, just when you think life should be amazing his past year and a half has been, to say the least, a struggle.
It is enough for one to worry about your own health, and mental health. You should not have to worry about the bills that are piling up and not knowing when you will return to work.
Adam is surrounded by family and friends who love him and want to help him. We do help him in so many ways but I’m reaching out today to ask if you can help him out just a little bit more.
thank you ❤️
