Adam Walker - Boy Scout Eagle Project for CLS
Dear Friends and Family,
My name is Adam Walker, and I am currently a senior at Damien High School. I am a Life Scout at Troop 446, and ever since I have joined scouting I have always wanted to be an Eagle Scout. This would be the most meaningful achievement in my life so far. Scouting has taught me so many skills through my time that will have an everlasting impact on my life.
To accomplish this goal, I must complete a project that gives back to the community in a positive manner. My 13 years at Christ Lutheran School gave me the sense of pride to come back and carry out this project. CLS had blessed me with the opportunity to succeed in the world, and to learn many valuable lessons throughout my time at the school.
My project is based on the idea of refurbishment to key areas of the school. These areas include: The large sandbox in the elementary school playground. This sandbox needs a new fresh layer of sand, new wood borders around the sandbox, and the pull-up bars need to be sanded and repainted. The smaller sandbox on the larger playground needs a fresh layer of sand, and the wood needs to be sanded down and treated. We will also be adding 6 new recyclable plastic benches around the three main trees that the students will be able to utilize in the larger playground. These benches should last a lifetime and endure many of the weather elements. I will also be adding a remembrance bench in the addition to a fellow alumni's project.
This project will mean so much to me as it will be dedicated to the late Mr. Andrade. Mr. A had been a guiding light for so many of us throughout my time at CLS. He was one of the main reasons I was able to attend Damien High School by his encouraging words and actions. He would do anything for the kids at CLS, and I believe that this project perfectly advocates his ideas of giving back. I would appreciate and gratefully accept donations of any size. My project is slated to begin in late July.
