Adam Mathieu has never hesitated to spend his time and energy helping others. His family and friends know him as a kind, patient and compassionate person who is always there when needed. At the fencing club, he is constantly helping the younger/less experienced fencers in any way he can, from running practices to fixing equipment and everything in between. His commitment to the Empire United family is incredible and is just one example of his warm, giving nature.
Adam's mother Mary passed away recently after a long struggle with breast cancer. Sadly, Adam and his brother Anton also lost their father last year. In this difficult time Adam does not have a permanent place to live, and is still saddled with significant student loans. In addition to adding unnecessary stress, these financial burdens also stand in the way of letting Adam achieve his goals of fencing for the US Senior Men’s Foil team. One of the few things we as a community can do for him now is to help remove this hurdle, so he has the space to move forward and pursue his dream. So for those of you who know and love Adam, we ask you to contribute to this fund and offer him the help and support he so readily gives to others.
