Adam Kendall’s Foot Amputation

Donation protected

As many of you know Adam has limped around for years with his foot. Usually happily and full of his jokes and bologna. Even though the whole time the pain has been excruciating and debilitating.

His heel was cut off in the spokes of a motorcycle at a very young age. It never fully healed. Leaving large gaps/holes through the skin which get infected, puss, ooze and cause horrible pain. Leaving him just trying to get through the day.   For years he has seen doctors who can not do very much except treat the infection. The bone continues to deteriorate. This year they inserted a port and gave powerful antibiotic  intravenously everyday to try to tackle the infection. They have taken many samples to the lab and also took him into surgery to open his foot completely for drainage and irrigation. While that helped for a short time the bone in his foot is just deteriorating. The pain is unbearable. It continues to worsen. He is to the point where working on his feet everyday is impossible.

Amy has been working two-three jobs this year to try to keep up and let him heal. After a whole year of trying everything with a specialist the decision has been made to amputate. Which he had done today,  March 16th 2021.  It will be the only way to rid of further infection, deterioration ,pain and help with mobility in the coming years. This is very hard and scary. While he is ready for relief this is still going to be a challenging time. How could you ever be ready for something like this?

Adam has helped all of us. Whenever we need it and however we need it! When your car needs fixed, when you need help moving, need a ride, need a friend, anything at all. He is always there. He never asks for help. He actually refuses. As his sister, I know these next few months for him, Amy and the boys are going to be scary and extremely hard financially. I’m hoping we can come together to help support them and give them a little relief so he can heal. I know the surgery even with insurance will be about 3,000$ Plus a prosthetic. That costs anywhere from $5,000-50,000$ and most likely has to be replaced every 3-5yrs. Just paying bills and feeding his household is going to be incredibly stressful during these next few months and maybe impossible since he won’t be able to work for a minimum of 3months. He needs us this once. More than ever.

Surgery went well (12:00pm 3/16) . He is starting his recovery process.

Sincerely,
