On Jan 7, 2018 my friend Kim Donovan received a call that would impact her life forever. Her son Adam was in intensive care at St. Michaels hospital with a rare infection in his spinal cord caused by an epidural abcess.
Unfortuntely after a 3 hour surgury, Kim was informed that the damage to his spinal cord was extensive and that he would not recover fully. Unless a miracle happens, there is no chance of him walking again.
Expenses incurred as a result of this situation are mounting. With current expenses of parking, transportation & lost wages, to the ongoing reality of prolonged medical care, prescription drugs, rehabilitation therapy, along with the costs of living. rent, food etc. will be an immense financial burden. Kim & Adam will have to relocate to a home designed for wheel chair accessibility.
Kim and Adam's family all live in New Brunswick and they are all alone here. Her friends are helping but there is a financial, physically and emotional burden that will exceed what they can contribute.
