Adalyn’s Fight Against AML
As many of you know, Chad and Sharon Powers’ beautiful daughter, Adalyn Grace was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on 5/20/2021. If you’ve ever met Adalyn or even seen her photos on Facebook, you can’t help but love her!Her sweet smile and happy nature just light up a room.
Adalyn has already overcome so much in her short 2 years of life. At 6 months old, Adalyn had open heart surgery to repair a heart defect. Just when they thought life would finally get back to normal, COVID showed up and kept the family pretty much quarantined at home in fear Adalyn would catch the virus before her heart and immune system had time to recover completely.
Fast forward to November 20, 2020, Adalyn’s bloodwork showed that her platelets were very low, so she had a bone marrow biopsy and at that time it was negative for Leukemia. Since that time, they have kept a watch on her platelet levels, and since they haven’t improved, it was decided that another bone marrow biopsy needed to be done and it did come back positive for Leukemia cells. So,here they are getting ready for the fight of their life and we don’t want them to have to worry about anything but Adalyn.
This gofundme is to help provide the Powers family with any financial support we can, so that they can focus on Adalyn and her care. The expense of living in a hospital and having to buy meals everyday, along with the cost of gas going back and forth to Birmingham will be quite expensive.
Chemotherapy begins today, May 22 and will continue anywhere from 4-6 months. Adalyn will stay in the hospital for 25-30 days and then possibly get to go home for a week or two. Then that routine will continue until her treatment is over and she is in remission or when she is HEALED! It will be a long road, but Adalyn is a fighter and with everyone’s help, maybe we can help ease their burden just a little. Finances should be the last thing they have to worry about right now.
Please keep Adalyn , Chad and Sharon in your prayers! Thank you so much for your help.
