Hi, my name is Jose Adkins every & anyone who knew my mom knew the person she was, she had this light that when she would walk into a room nothing else mattered because she was cracking jokes, smiling, dancing & singing. literally the most bright & happy person i’ve known to walk this planet, the only thing that mattered to her was her kids, grandchildren and her family. She came to this country from Dominican Republic when she was 18 years old & created a life here. When she was 32 years old, in 2005 she lost the love of her life (OUR FATHER) & she became a single mom to a 9 year old son & a 4 year old daughter. She found the strength to move from Miami, Florida (our home) to NYC with literally NOTHING.. 2 kids & a suitcase. From shelter to shelter, till she finally made a home for us. She was the strongest person I know because despite the death & the trouble she still managed to keep a smile on her face & raise 2 amazing children & partially raise 2 grand babies. She was the type of person that she made everyone feel welcome and at home. Whether it was from giving you her bed to sleep, to a nice home cooked meal. She opened up the doors of her home to so many people, & never asked for anything in exchange. On September 18th, 2022 she lost her life due to a massive stroke caused by Hypertension (high blood pressure). She suffered from high blood pressure for over 20 years, but she was on medication & it was under control. Never in a million years did we think that this would happen.. she was literally fine a few hours before. The medical examiner informed us that there was nothing anyone could’ve done in her case because of how catastrophic the stroke was & the damage to her brain was extensive.. She was found on the couch with both her grand babies sleeping, except she wasn’t sleeping… Me and my sister Elaiza are just looking for help to raise money to have a funeral for her & honor her wishes of being put to rest in her country. All she ever wanted was to go back there.. Please even if you can’t help just share this post. We’re asking from the bottom of our heart, she left behind a family & we wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone.
