Adalee Tercero

Over the past few weeks Adalee has been battling confusing health issues. What started as mild headaches slowly developed into more painful headaches. After visiting the urgent care once and the Presbyterian ER twice and being told nothing was clinically wrong with her, her symptoms only became worse. We took her into Christus once more and she was finally admitted with meningitis. She was treated well there and over a period of 5 days began to show signs of improvement. They discharged her and we began to care for her at home.

She continued to improve and was almost back to her joyful little self, but then things took a turn. Her headaches increased in pain and she began to complain about feeling very weak. We took her back to the ER to be readmitted. As soon as we arrived in the parking lot she began to throw up and then went limp. After rushing her into the hospital she had a stroke and was admitted into the ER where they began running tests and treating her. Christus was not equipped to handle her ongoing care so she was airlifted to UNM Hospital in Abq, which is where we are now.

They have confirmed that she had a stroke and has an infection near her skull and brain along with blood clots. She has very little mobility in her right side and can not communicate with us apart from a hand squeeze and little moans of pain.

Stroke survivors do not have excellent odds for making full recoveries but we are believing, praying, hoping, and fighting for her to be part of the small percentage that does. At this time many people have asked what we need, which has been beautiful to experience and also overwhelming because we feel helpless ourselves and do not know what to say. Our boys are being well cared for by our immediate families, and the doctors are doing everything they can for our Adalee here so we are good on all of those fronts. That said, we may be here for quite a while and that means having to live off of whatever amenities are available. What we could use, apart from your continued love and healing prayers, is financial support as we stay here with her for however long it takes for her to recover.

P.S. Instead of continuing to try and keep everyone updated, we will begin to post any updates here. Thank you all again for your outpouring of love and support. Our little Adee is a special girl and she is blessed to have so many wonderful people cheering her on
