My name is Johnathan Burch and I am the son of Wandalaine and Rickey Burch. I am also the grandson of John and Bobbie Berry. I attend David W. Butler High School where I am a rising junior. I have recently been invited to the Washington Journalism & Media Conference that will be held July 18th-23rd, 2021 in Washington D.C. It would be a real honor to represent my family, Butler High School, and the state of North Carolina. This is an opportunity that will go toward my future because at the end of the conference the participants will receive the National Youth Correspondent Certificate of Merit in addition to one full, transferable college credit from George Mason University. Many of you may already be aware that I have faced many obstacles this year from virtual learning during Covid-19, as well as the passing of my mother from terminal brain cancer. Your support would help me make my mother’s legacy live on. The registration fee to attend the conference is $3000. This amount is due on May 21st, 2021.
