Happy is a 2 year old dog that like his name suggests is very happy. While we aren't sure exactly what Happy is, he looks like a pit-bull. Now most of us are aware of the reputation that pit-bulls have, but not many people are aware of the fact that pit-bulls are not prone to aggression towards humans. In fact pit-bulls have been noted for their gentleness, affection and loyalty (ASPSA.org). My family was lucky enough to experience Happy's gentleness and affection first hand when we fostered him. We were sad to see him leave, but we were happy to see him go to a good family. It breaks my heart that it has come to this...

Happy's story as told by his owner: We were playing outside after work like we always do. He had his electronic collar on but while outside it died, and I had no idea. He brought me his ball and backed up waiting for the throw. I bent over to grab the ball and turned back around he was gone! It turns out the neighbors had come outside in that time and he approached them "tail wagging and friendly" (Quote from the neighbor). All of a sudden I heard a scrap. And according to the neighbor HER DOG JUMPED/LUNGED FIRST. The neighbor then stepped between them, and this resulted in her sustaining an injury. I grabbed Happy and brought him straight to the kennel, where he spent the next two hours. Happy cried the entire time, he knew that he was wrong but he didn't know why. 2 hours later the cops were at my door asking my side of the story and proceeded to tell us we had to wait and see what the city of Alexandria decides. The officer didn't meet Happy, in fact no one has, but now they have deemed Happy dangerous and want him to be muzzled  and for us to fence our property.
To be clear it is NOT known which dog caused the injury to the neighbor, and there is no way to prove which dog did it. And even though Happy has never shown ANY aggression toward humans he's being punished.

The cost of surveying the land plus fencing comes to be around $1500. If this wasn't enough they also are having the family acquire 300k in insurance in case this were to ever happen again. Right now this gofundme is only asking for help with the cost of the land surveying and fencing.

Dogs are the ONLY thing on this earth that will love you more then they love themselves. Happy's family is trying to appeal Happy's label of a dangerous dog, but if they are not able to they will have to find a way to pay the 300k plus the fencing or they will be forced to put Happy down. Approximately 1.3 million dogs are euthanized in the United States a year... Please help so that Happy is not one of them.
