Helping Susana
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Jessica McMillan, and I am here on behalf of my mother, Susana. My mother is a long-term diabetic whose life dramatically changed in May 2022. We hope you take the time to read her story and possibly be moved towards assisting in her cause.
On May 1st my mother was admitted to the hospital, where they found that her kidneys were failing. She was placed on dialysis indefinitely. My mother was unable to leave the hospital until a space became available at an outpatient dialysis center, which took several weeks.
Then, on May 27th, she was involved in an automobile accident. This accident left her with fractured ribs and two shattered ankles. My mother had surgery on her ankles where they inserted rods in each. She no longer can move or flex at the ankle. She is currently unable to step onto her feet completely; a necessary precaution while she heals as this reduces the risk of infection. In time, Susana will need to learn how to walk again. For now, she will spend an estimated six months in a wheelchair and an even longer period using a walker.
As with any medical emergency, my mother, Susana, and my step-father, Rick, are experiencing financial difficulties that are only continuing to build. My mother will be coming home in a few short weeks and will need a home that is handicap-accessible. At the top of the list is remodeling her bathroom to have a handicap-accessible shower and eventually installing hard flooring for ease of movement. While Rick is at work (six days a week), she will also need a caregiver to assist with daily needs, including driving her to her dialysis appointments.
I am here asking for whatever help you can offer. If you know my mother, you know she's always been a very generous person with a big heart. When she sees a need, she does what she can to meet it and is heartbroken when she can't. I want to share that through all that has happened, her faith has remained strong. She knows God is with her and will provide for all her needs. If it is God's plan, I pray that through this, we can unite and allow God to work in a mighty way through each one of us. Every little bit helps, but God makes it go a very long way. Please...consider giving. Regardless, your prayers are very much appreciated at this difficult time.
Thank you very much for your time and prayers, and blessings.
