Sonia, 54, has intestinal cancer, and it's spreading. Unfortunately, she's in what doctors call the terminal stage and has six months left to live.
Due to her illness, she needs a very specific—and expensive—procedure called an ileostomy, which requires the insertion of a special pouch into her intestine. Because the pouch must regularly be changed, this becomes a very costly expense for her.
Her 82-year-old mother Maria works in a restaurant three times a week to support her daughter and buy the needed colostomy bags, which are the only thing that her health insurance does not cover. As both women do not make enough money to pay for the bags, they have received support from various churches and generous individuals, but it's still been a constant fight to make ends meet.
The sacrifice and struggle that these women have been experiencing has really moved me. I am trying to raise money for them to help alleviate their situation for another six months at least. Six months is the time that doctors believe Sonia still has left in this life. The sum of all their expenses, from rent to the regular colostomy bags, is around $7,000.
I am sending you this message because I believe you may be willing to help. Words are not enough to thank you for your kind gesture, and I hope God gives you double for your trouble.
I am eternally grateful for your help.
All the best,
Lucia
