I have known Sherry for ~20 years. She is a phenomenal mother, volunteers in her community, and generally tries to be the best human being she can be. Unfortunately, after encouraging Sherry to stay at home with the children for years, and moving out to rural MA to live the suburban dream, her husband walked out on these ladies about a year ago.
They have managed to muddle through the last year with a lot of help from family, friends, and their local community. However, without solid recent work experience and no completed college degrees, she has had no luck finding a job in MA that would allow her to adequately support her family by herself, and it is becoming clear that moving is one of the better options in order for them to move on with their lives (see note at end).
The "where" part of the move is not set in stone yet, but no matter where they move, it will cost $$ that they don't currently have.
The requested $2000 is primarily to cover the expected cost of moving from MA to MI (near me; this the most likely target at the moment) using a container moving service like U-Haul's U-Box. The current timeline is sometime mid-July to August.
Why move? houses can be rented in my area for $500-700/month, car insurance is cheaper than in MA ($150 less per month according to my local insurance agent), the schools are highly rated, and the possibility of buying a house in the future is much more likely with properties in the $30-$50k range like this one being fairly common. She also has an offer for a low-stress job on the table for August.
I know this family can heal and find their new groove once they find a place to settle. Unfortunately like many people, the money needed to pick up and move can be a hard thing to scrape up, especially if your family has already spent the last year scraping by.
If you can spare a few dollars to help these great ladies start over, it would be much appreciated. Every little bit adds up! The amounts below are simply suggestions, and any amount larger or smaller will help get these ladies moved.
Thanks & Cheers,
We are only asking for addresses in case you would like a physical token of appreciation.
Note: for those of you familiar with aspects of divorce with kids and were wondering, Sherry has secured the right to leave the state with her girls, and it is okay with their father.
Note 2: Just in case more money is raised than needed for the direct moving costs, any extra will be used for initial costs of renting (security/first month/pet deposit, etc...) in their new location.
