A Cure for Grampa

Ed Troyer, of Constantine, MI, is a man who has lived his life with a standard of God fearing integrity and, along with his wife, Fern, raised 5 boys into strong Christian men. He has 13 grandchildren (he is pictured with a bunch of them) and his 1st great grandchild is on the way. 17 years ago he was in an accident that cracked his skull and broke his ribs. Fern has been near death 5 different times with spinal meningitis and a severe auto accident of her own and even though they both have had to battle health issues, I have never heard them complain.

They have dedicated their lives to helping others and have impacted families, marriages and individuals through counseling, time and giving of their own money and possessions again and again. They've never had much in the way of financial means but have lived a very rich life with a close knit family and friendships that were earned through the selfless love of everyone they came in contact with.

On May 13th, 2015, doctors discovered a tumor on Ed's frontal lobe and are saying that it is a very aggressive form of cancer that has infiltrated 2/3 of his brain rendering it inoperable. This is having a profound impact on a brilliant man who has always been there for everyone else. The only thing he has ever asked for was prayer.

The doctors have stated that the tumor it is incurable however we believe there is hope and are praying for a miracle. There are several treatment possibilities that have shown very positive results and have an amazing success rate of shrinking tumors but they are not covered by insurance and ongoing care after the treatment is also expensive. We have a goal of raising $15,000 for treatment and getting them started on after care. Their fixed income already has them living a very modest lifestyle with only 1 older vehicle to get them back and forth to the various doctors and treatment centers.

I would love to see this couple rewarded after years of struggling to keep up with a seemingly endless stream of medical bills all the while helping others through their "Hope for the Family" counseling practice. Raising the money to pay for a treatment which could give Ed more time to spend with the love of his life and to see his great grand baby would be priceless.

Together they are an incredible example of true love and honoring their vows of "for better or for worse". Would you be willing to give to a couple that has been giving to others their whole lives?
