Actors & Crew (of VITA)
Donation protected

Hello friends, family, and film lovers!
I recently finished a film I wrote and directed (VITA) and I’m creating this backend fundraiser (approved by my SAG AFTRA REP) due to the hardships many are experiencing with the ongoing strikes. I stand in solidarity with both; SAG AFTRA and WGA strikes, however, I won’t pretend it’s been easy for my colleagues and I in all the ways (financially, emotionally, mentally, etc.). When my union (SAG AFTRA) announced they’d strike in July I knew I had to devise a plan to help, even in a small way.
I’ve slowly learned that even if it's uncomfortable asking for help it’s sometimes necessary to go forward. When I shot VITA I didn’t want to burden others in asking for financial help/donations because our world was experiencing a global panic. This film was only made possible because of a generous cast and crew. I was transparent to all the talent and crew members before filming that I couldn’t pay anyone; each individual agreed they wanted to create this story together even if they weren’t paid. To say I was/am grateful for these artists + crew doesn’t do justice… However, it always bothered me that I was not able to compensate for their time, skills, professionalism, and abilities. I’m optimistic it’s not too late.
HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN, I humbly ask anyone able & interested to donate ANYTHING you can because the artists who made VITA are the same compassionate humans struggling at the hands of studios refusing to pay HUMANs what they’re worth. Just because I too have worked many film/theatre/internship jobs without pay shouldn’t condone this. I was wrong not to break a pattern artists have become accustomed to in accepting little to nothing between low-budget projects and higher-profile features. I’m hoping to right a wrong and abashedly ask for your help to donate to these very deserving, hardworking, and brilliant humans who took my idea on paper and brought VITA to life.
Artists require fair pay ALWAYS. No matter how uncomfortable or unnatural it is for me to ask for help it’s my responsibility as a leader to compensate all workers. I realize VITA’s cast + crew is a small group compared to the thousands affected by the strikes; however, all individuals apart of this project are incredibly deserving and in need of you support. Thank you for supporting storytellers.
My sincerest love and gratitude,
Callie Haun
