Hey friends, family and strangers!
Most of you know John and me, but in case you don’t, here’s a quick rundown - John was injured in a motorcycle accident 11 years ago which left him with a T4 incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI). As a result of the injury, he is paralyzed from the chest down. John and I crossed paths about a year and a half ago. More recently, he came to a SCI support group (Wheel Love) event we hosted … And as they say the rest is history :)
Now for the real reason you came to this site- I have been researching and exploring various options to expand and enhance John’s world (in case I didn’t mention, I’m an OT ;). As most of you know, John has a wild hair in him and loves anything involving the outdoors and adrenaline. I have repeatedly come across Action Trackchairs in my investigating and couldn’t dream of something more perfect for John. The Action Trackchair would allow him to hunt/fish again in a way he hasn’t been able to since the accident. He could travel to the beach and easily maneuver over sand and even through snow. He will also be able to partake in landscaping and construction work, which he loves. Most importantly it will provide him with multiple opportunities that would bring him adrenaline and quality of life unlike any he has experienced since his accident. The Action Trackchair even has a standing mechanism! Not only would this wheelchair take him places he hasn’t been before, but it would provide him with the opportunity to stand again!! I will not go into ALL the benefits this would give, but quickly some include: medical stability, social benefits, and improving overall health and well-being. SO the idea is to raise some money no matter how much or how little, that could possibly make this dream a little more of a reality.
