Hi my name is Paula!
I have been helping and rescuing Stray Feral and abandoned Kittens and cats for quite some time now.
I have also had a lost and found facebook group for over a decade, sharing posts and helping when and where I can.
Until now this has been done with no funding, which has left it impossible to help as many as I would like to.
So we created 'Action for Cats (North Leicestershire)
A non-profit organisation
I am now planning fundraising events, and also asking for donations to help us get some money behind us, to be able to make a difference to many cats.
These are a few of our main goals:
- TNR: Ferals and strays that are unable to be homed/tamed, will be caught, neutered, vet checked and returned to where they are found or a safer area if necessary.
- COMMUNITY: We hope to try to clean up colonies, working with communities, giving help and advice so that they can report any issues. Set up local meetings and leafleting etc
Eventually we also want to help genuine families who circumstances change beyond their control and are left struggling
We want to be able to ask ' How can we help you'....and actually be able to do just that!
We aim to get local trades people involved in helping, and volunteers to help with capturing, scanning, transport, Social Media and promotions etc
We need volunteers (with skills even better) Woodworking/building: to build outside Cat houses. Safe warm areas for our feral friends. Asking Farms and local pet shops to donate straw and other supplies.
I will also be organizing donation bins to put in place within some of our local large superstores.
- VET CARE: to work with other caring Vets, Charities, rescues and fosterers, to get the best deal, so that we can help as many as possible. From TNR, to rehoming.
EQUIPMENT:
In the past we have purchased cat traps, crates, cages, bedding, food, medicines, but it is not possible to continue to do this without help.
- MERCHANDISE/PROMOTIONS:
As well as social media, we need promotional material with our logo/s and banners...
I will be hosting events in 2026.
I have been in the music business as a performer for decades and hope to get artist friends involved in gigs and festivals.
I have professional vets, and animal rescues/officers who have agreed to do some talks aswell as the occasional celebrity cat lover!
We also need people who can make any kind of Cat merchandise, that would be willing to donate some to our cause. To be sold on a stall at our events.
Our social media page will show clearly where your funds are going at regular intervals.
We are asking for as much as you can afford at this moment in time.
Monthly regular payments can be made should you wish to do this instead of a lump sum.
What does your donation mean?
Well, it enables us to help create
More healthier and controllable colonies
So, more kittens/cats of the street and rehomed. Less disease because of better checks with TNRS, vet care and general community help.
Having healthy cats is vital... it protects all cats and kittens including your pets!
Unneuteured male cats fight, and if they have a contagious illness, it spreads to other cats including females, who can get pregnant at as early as 3 months old, when they still are only kittens and still forming themselves! This can kill the cat and cause still births or produce very sick kittens.
So without help or intervention, a lot of these cats will have premature and painful deaths. Be it killed on our roads or suffering illness or abuse
