Our Initiative:
Act & Pack is a grassroots initiative created in Toronto, Canada, by friends, family, and fans of St. Maarten to help in the relief effort. Our focus is on vulnerable populations: youth, expecting mothers and/or single parents, and the elderly, among others.
The Act & Pack team is hosting donation drives, and collecting backpacks containing non-perishable food items and essential personal care items to send to St. Maarten. Join our facebook group.
Our Objective:
1. To collect and distribute 100 bags filled with essential items to the district of St. Peters - an underserved community in St. Maarten.
Our GoFundMe Intentions:
We plan to use the money raised through GoFundMe to:
- Cover the cost of shipping items (by cargo ship) to St. Maarten;
- Cover costs for customs, transporting and distributing the backpacks on the ground in St. Maarten;
- Provide a small honourarium to two local community organisers who are providing logistical support, and conducting on-the-ground outreach in St-Maarten to identify vulnerable persons in need of our help.
