The world is a big place and its problems are overwhelming. By making a single step, you can make a positive impact – do not underestimate that ONE PERSON can make a difference in the environment.

Unfortunately, we have come accustomed to seeing roadside litter and illegal dumping and you may not be aware of the unique issues it brings to the area. Not only does it spoil the aesthetic beauty of the environment, but it has a wider ‘emotional, environmental, and financial’ impact on the local communities and the wildlife that are burdened with it.

A Cleaner North County, a 501c3 nonprofit, is leading by example. Since 2021, we have removed over 33,500 pounds of litter and dumping. Our dedication to our cause is obvious as we want to keep the environment clean with its breathtaking landscapes. Litter is not something you want to greet visitors with, but it is something that they will remember. When areas thrive due to tourists they want to see the beautiful scenery and maybe make a home for just that reason. By spoiling the aesthetics with littering and dumping, it ruins the reasons that people visit your area.

The cost to clean up illegally dumped waste is HIGH with averages of $600 per ton in some areas, which becomes a tax payer problem. Common items we have found at illegal dumping sites include: furniture, mattresses, refrigerators, electronics, and construction and demolition materials (drywall/concrete/tile), and auto related items such as tires, car parts, and batteries.

It is OUR responsibility to take care of this planet so that future generations can inherit a clean and healthy world. We must work together to reduce our footprint. Nature is the foundation of our well being by giving us clean air, water, food, and space. If we don’t take care of the planet, its ecosystems, we only worsen our lives and well being. There is no PLAN B.

Our goal is to reach $2,000 which will be used for general supplies, such as contractor size garbage bags, zip ties, gloves, grabbers, etc so that we can continue our mission to have an environment that we can be proud of.
