Where to begin... For a couple months Alexis was out of commission due to a back injury from work. In the course of going to doctor visits, on May 28th, Alexis and I found out that she was 7 months pregnant! To say the least this was a little terrifying. Very exciting, but also very terrifying! And completely not according to plan. On Friday, May 29th, I took her to the hospital because she was having extreme side pain. During her stay in the hospital that weekend we found out that she was experiencing kidney failure due to obstruction. The doctors' best guess as to why there was an obstruction on her kidneys is that her enlarged uterus was blocking off her ureters. This also explained why she was never able to recover from her back strain from work. On the 30th, she had an emergency surgery to relieve the obstruction by placing tubes directly into both kidneys that would then drain into external bags. That was successful and she quickly recovered.

Fast forward two weeks... on Friday, June 12th, she was able to have the drain bags removed and stents placed in the ureters. On June 15th, I took her to the hospital because she started having contractions. Due to her only being 30 weeks along, they flew us to Denver since the Durango hospital is not equipped to handle babies less than 34 weeks along.

And so here we are! We are not certain when our little man, Ryland Dirk Ross, is going to get here, but they are trying to keep him in as long as possible. We will be facing some financial struggles due to missing work and travelling back and forth from Durango to Denver during this time and we would greatly appreciate any help you are able to provide!
