I just met Lorraine (Lori) Dietz while traveling to Cathlamet WA. She is the head cheesemaker of Little Island Creamery which just won first place in the American Cheese Society (ACS) 2022 Judging & Competition Award's Soft Ripened Cheese "Brie - made from cow's milk" category.

The competition took place back in May at the University of Minnesota but winners were announced on July 21, 2022 at the ACS Annual Conference in Portland, OR.

Cathlamet is one small town, and I met Lori at the River Mile 38 Brewery in town. She is more passionate about cheesemaking than I knew was possible and credited her team at the creamery - especially assistants Naomi and Connie.

Lori is self-taught in only three years and needs education to further grow and develop her career. This award enables Lori to attend an exclusive and prestigious cheesemaking course through France Process in La Roche Sur Foron, France. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to fund her attendance, travel, and stay for this highly exclusive course.
