On 14th March, I’ll be flying to Nepal to take on a once-in-a-lifetime 17-day trek through the Himalayas, accompanied only by a guide and a porter. I’ll be hiking to Everest Base Camp and climbing to breathtaking heights including Gokyo Ri, the Gokyo Lakes, and Kala Patthar (being my highest point at 5,555m) taking in some of the most spectacular views on earth. The journey begins with a flight into Lukla often called the world’s most dangerous airport before days of trekking between remote mountain tea houses along the route. This adventure became a reality after a heartfelt conversation with my granddad, who shared how much he regretted never visiting the Great Barrier Reef when he had the chance. He encouraged me not to let opportunities pass me by and that conversation gave me the push to turn this dream into action. Now, the reason for this Go Fund Me and my chosen charity.
Endometriosis has had a deeply personal impact on my family. My sister first began experiencing severe pain and symptoms at just 11 years old, but it took years of countless GP appointments and hospital visits before she finally received a diagnosis at 16. In the five years that followed, between the ages of 16 and 21, she endured three surgeries in an attempt to manage the condition and she is currently waiting for a date for yet another operation. Watching her go through that level of pain, uncertainty and repeated procedures has been incredibly hard. Sadly, her experience is not unique within our family my mum went through a very similar journey herself, facing years of hospital trips and surgeries before receiving proper treatment. Their stories are a powerful reminder of how debilitating and overlooked this condition can be, and why raising awareness and funds for Endometriosis UK means so much to me.
For my family, Endometriosis UK has been more than just a charity it has been a source of reassurance and strength. The organisation raises vital awareness about a condition that is so often misunderstood, offers meaningful support to those living with it, and keeps people informed about important policy changes and campaigns pushing for better care. Most importantly, it reminds women and girls that they are not suffering alone that their pain is real, valid, and shared by others who truly understand. That sense of community and recognition can make an incredibly difficult journey feel just a little less isolating.
I’m fundraising for Endometriosis UK because no one should have to struggle for years to be heard, diagnosed, or treated. By coming together to raise both money and awareness for this condition, we can help drive better education, earlier diagnosis, improved support, and stronger advocacy for change. My hope is that through supporting this charity, we can make the journey a little easier for the women and girls going through endometriosis now and help create a future where fewer families have to endure the same challenges mine has faced.
Any donation would be deeply appreciated by both me and my family, thank you for reading and wish me luck!
