Gee’s Ride from Brisbane to Perth for Guide Dogs Queensland
Hi, I'm Gee.
Several years ago, I sustained an acquired brain injury. Although I’m no longer able to walk independently (yet!), I’ve found strength, healing, and independence in movement, especially through my beloved stationary recumbent bike, which I use every day.
Animals have played a vital role in my recovery. Their companionship, love, and loyalty have brought light into some of my darkest days. One organization in particular, Guide Dogs Queensland, has been close to my heart during this time.
Guide Dogs Queensland is not just about dogs helping people with vision impairments. They provide a wide range of services, including therapy dog programs, mobility training, and tailored support for people with neurological conditions and physical disabilities. They help individuals live more independently and with greater confidence.
For many years, I’ve been on the receiving end of support from my family, healthcare professionals, my community, and organizations like Guide Dogs Queensland. Now, I feel ready to give back.
That’s why I’ve set myself a challenge: to cycle the equivalent distance from Brisbane to Perth, over 4,000 kilometers, on my recumbent bike, all from home. With every kilometer, I’ll be raising funds for Guide Dogs Queensland as a way to say thank you and pay it forward.
Please consider donating or sharing this campaign. These amazing dogs and the team behind them provide real, practical support to people who just need a little extra help, just like I did.
Thank you so much for your support.
Love Gee
