Rebecca Thompson Changed My Life
Donation protected
My name is James Everett. I found myself in a life changing position about a year ago. My daughter Reagan came to me and told me her Mom, (my x-wife of 22 years) Rebecca was losing her place to live. And at that time Rebecca had 7 Leiomyosarcomas in her lungs, bone cancer, as well as a large tumor in her groin. She was just a week away from starting Chemo. So,I told her to move in and I would take care of her to the end. Since she’s moved in, she’s gone through many rounds of chemo at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She now has 19 leiomyosarcomas and her bone cancer is spreading. With her treatment now over and the doubling of cancer, she is currently on hospice. Rebecca has a rare genetic disorder called Li-fraumeni Syndrome. (LFS) That puts her at a 100% lifetime risk of dying of cancer. My two children also have LFS. Reagan currently has brain cancer, but she is doing well with no additional tumor growth since her brain surgery in 2014. And by the grace of God my son Drake is cancer free so far.
Rebecca has five siblings and all, but her older brother Randy had LFS. She’s lost all her siblings over the years, as well as her Father to brain cancer when she was just 12 years old.
Keith Thompson (Father) - Born September 1939 – Died September 1982
Rick Thompson - Born January 1960 – Died November 2010
Larry Thompson – Born February 1962 – Died October 1989
Sharese Thompson – Born November 1964 – Died May 1994
Bryce Thompson – Born July 1974 – Died February 2014
Rebecca has also watched many of her nieces and nephews pass from LFS related cancers. Once Rebecca passes, her older brother Randy will be the last of his siblings alive. Randy and I have been working closely together to take care of Rebecca, emotionally, financially and spiritually. However, the cost of cancer has taken its toll on Randy and me. Rebecca’s time is just about over, and soon her suffering will end and she’ll be with her Brothers, Sister and Father again. It’s such an honor to take care of Rebecca. It has truly given me a deeper understanding of what life is all about.
Each day I do everything I can to help Rebecca and my kids deal with her cancer and pending death. It’s a struggle to see my children watch their future of dying from cancer firsthand. Randy and I need help to with her ongoing care and burying her when the time comes. There are simply no siblings left to help. There all gone. Any donation would be huge for us.
God bless you.
