ACLU - Black Lives Matter

Hello, my name is Elena.  I am 12 yrs old, and very concerned about the welfare of the protestors and their rights to protest.  I have been watching the demonstrations across the United States, with people protesting against racial inequality and injustice. My first reaction was anger and sadness , but then I thought to myself how is my anger going to help them, so I decided to take action by doing a silent protest. I would like to raise money to support an organisation called The ACLU ( American Civil Liberties Union.) The ACLU was founded in 1920  ‘To defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States.’

Right now black people are being murdered and brutalized. The ACLU is working hard to demand racial justice and defend the rights to protest. The ACLU is defending the legal battles of peaceful protesters. My plan is to begin my silent protest from Monday June 8th for one week, I will only communicate using a pen on my white board, or using electronic messages. My goal is to raise $300, if this goes well I may continue my silent protest (I’ll keep you posted.)
