ACL Surgery for Shaylee

Shaylee is a six year old Great Bernese (Great Pyrenees/Bernese Mountain Dog). Shaylee is a certified therapy dog that visits elementary schools, nursing homes, hospice, libraries and colleges.
She is under the care of Ebensburg Animal Hospital and Dr. Takacs. Shaylee started limping and guarding her left hind leg. We took her today for a check up/x-ray. She tore her CCL (similar to our ACL) and meniscus. For those who know Shaylee, she had the same injury on her right hind leg a mere three months ago and went through surgery. For a large breed dog, TPLO surgery is recommended. TPLO stablizes the joint and the bone will fuse with the corrective hardware. There is a quicker healing/recovery time (although still a minimum of 8 weeks and up to around 16 weeks) and less chance of re-injury.
We are fundraising to help cover costs of surgery. Funds can even be made to the vets office directly.
