ACL reconstruction and Rehab
Donation protected
Hello my name is Emma and on the 25th February 2024, I was competing with my team Hashtag United Women in a semi-final of a national league cup against Halifax. In the second half, I suffered an injury to my knee and heard that dreaded “popping sound”.
Fear did set in but I thought I would remain positive until I knew the extent of the injury. After MRI scans, this showed a high-grade rupture to my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in my knee. I’ve never suffered an injury like this and it hit me hard.
As well as playing football for Hashtag United, I am a full-time emergency service worker. I have frontline duties involving responding to 999 emergencies.
This injury means I can no longer participate in football or frontline duties. It really has put a hold on my life until I get surgery to reconstruct my ACL.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the resources to cover the cost privately and I can’t afford to put myself on the NHS waiting list (12-18 months before surgery) I just never really thought this injury would happen to me but I can say I am truly devastated. I have been told the cost of this surgery will be in the region of £10,000.
Therefore, I am asking for any donations, small or large, that can help me get back on my feet, doing what I love most.
