Kenzie is Wyatts Twinkie. You may remember hearing me talk about her. The kids are the same age (7) down to the week and were diagnosed the same month with Hydrocephalus before their first birthdays.
While Wyatt as able to receive treatments due to his type of Hydrocephalus, Kenzie had to have a shunt placed in her brain to constantly drain fluids and prevent elevated pressures in the brain. This comes with lifelong maintenance and malfunction/infection risks. Kenzie has already had 3 brain surgeries.
This week Kenzie's had an emergency appendix removal to address infection near her drain tube and while this is scary for any parent of course it's more complicated. Her internal drainage had to be moved externally while she is treated for the infection. She will be in the ICU for at least 2 weeks while she is cleared of the infection and her draining can replaced from the shunt into her stomach.
This is already more than any parents could imagine but Chris and Amie are also managing critical illnesses in both of their familes leading to an unbelievably difficult situation.
I would love to be able to provide meals, snacks, and some wage replacement to ease this impossible time.
