I am Natasha Perry-Fagant; Actress, Director, general creative human and Artistic Director of Acherontia Productions. I have been incredibly lucky to have been able to produce and create the surreal connection based work that is my company's mandate to explore. I am seeing funds the performance of my two shows "A David Lynch Wet Dream" and "SCRUM" over the summer.
I have always been sensitive person that has gotten through alot of trying times relying on creative outlets. My greatest desire is and has always been to be an artist. I feel that good art can bring us into another world to be able to understand ourselves and each other. One of the reasons I choose to be a theatre practitioner is I feel theatre does so in the most effective way. A theatre audience knows that a show they will experience is not a real series of events they are watching, it will not hurt them in the way that turning the news on and seeing horrific images from war torn expanses. The work that I try to make through Acherontia Productions seeks to explore "the strange and beautiful with a conscious and careful importance".
"A David Lynch Wet Dream" was my self exmaniation of the idea of being an actress and the factors that lead to my own suicide attempt. It received an overwhelming response at last year's Montreal Fringe and was runner up for the "Mainline Creativity Award"
"SCRUM" is an ensemble movement piece. The show examines trauma and the disconnect found in daily life and the necessity for genuine connection to create community.
