Savannah's Pro Surfing Kickstarter

Hey it's me Savannah, I am raising funds to get to the first few WQS events to jump start a career as a professional surfer. I need your help to get this kickstarted. I am currently the east coast women's pro champion, but looking to expand to a larger playing field. The idea is that after several events, surfing will speak for itself and sponsorships etc. will fall into place to keep the ball rolling, so hear me out...

I am Savannah. I LOVE to surf. I spent the majority of my childhood in the sport and through a series of interesting events fell away from it for a few years. I went off to college on a track and cross country scholarship, worked as an MA in geriatrics and pediatrics, and managed to get a bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology without completely losing my mind. Let's just say, it has been a journey over the past year making some life changing decisions that led me, well to where I am today; sitting in front of a computer about to lay it all out on the line to pursue the single thing I am most passionate about in life. 

I ran away from some basic joys in life; the ocean and surfing to pursue something I was certain would bring me happiness, wealth and security. Was I ever wrong. I stepped away from what looked like a promissing future in the medical field to take a simple job as a surf instructor on the shores of Folly beach. Something inside me knew it was time to release my own agendas in life and let the heart take over. I spent majority of this year getting to share the experience of surfing with different people and children every day. I watched as countless individual's lives changed as they conquered what had seemed to them impossible at first. I can't tell you who learned more through this experience; my students or myself.

I played musical boards during the summer months, catching a session whenever possible before or after lessons, and towards the end of the season decided it would be fun to dip my feet back into competing. The community in Folly that I quickly sunk into was nothing but encouraging and supportive.

Surfing became and remains a way to express my overall joy for life. I competed in six pro events on the east coast this season coming away with three championships and placing in the finals of two more events. I surf and compete not to prove my worth or conquer opponents, but to preform at MY greatest ability for the pure fun of it. My inten is to inspire those around me that if we follow our hearts and do things out of joy expecting nothing in return anything becomes possible. 

The funds I am requesting will be used to fly to Austraila to "set up camp" for a little over a month there while knocking out six consecutive events all within a small area and time frame. This includes plane tickets, places to stay, and transportation. I am currently receiving support from Ocean Surf Shop, and Rusty Surf Boards in regards to some contest fees and equipment. Can't help but give these guys a shout out for being a non stop possitive influence. 

I will need the funds sooner than later as I fly out January 9th to make all the preparations fall into place. This means something beyond words to me, and to have this opportunity come to life would be greater than my wildest dreams. Blessings to all, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
